1st Day of Summer Fun!

Holy Cow! We actually saw and felt SUNLIGHT and warm temps on the first day of summer in Seattle! Like most of you I'm so sick of cold, gray, and cloudy skies. Here are some fun photos of our first day of summer. As you can see from the pictures, Isabella was up to a "little monkey buisness" in the bathroom. Right now my goal is to get through the terrible threes. Isabella has been a handful!

Way to Go Zachary!!!!!!!

We are so PROUD of Zachary he completed his year of full day Kindergarten with great success! Next year, he will not require any IEP services; however, he will have a 504 plan in place, which will allow Zachary to have accommodations in the classroom. Once again, Zachary was fortunate to have an excellent Kindergarten teacher. He also had a wonderful reading teacher. Overall, we had a fantastic team of people. Yesterday Isabella and I spent the day in the classroom and I was amazed by how many people at Zachary's school truly love my children. Each of these people wanted their photo taken with my children and gave my children small gifts. Mrs. Cichy gave both Zachary and Isabella a gift after school and then she hugged Zachary and told him that he was her "most successful student this year and she was very proud of his achievements". Zachary just beamed! His reading teacher, Miss. Brown, also hugged Zachary and gave him a special book with a message inside. Then we went into the office to check out, and Miss. Judy, the Principal's Secretary, gave Zachary and Isabella a gift and wanted to take their photo so she could send it to Zachary's previous Principal Ms. Ferris, who now lives in Boston. She told me that every time she talks to Ms. Ferris she always inquires about Zachary and Isabella. Two years ago, she really helped Kirk and I out and she truly did what was in Zachary's best interest and clearly now it was successful. We miss Audrey, but we have the opportunity to exchange e-mails with her. Finally, when we walked out the door Zachary's previous preschool bus driver named Michelle also gave both kids a small gift and hug. I believe that Zachary, once again, has been blessed with a wonderful team both at school and in the private sector. A HUGE THANK YOU FROM THE WALKER FAMILY!!!! Hiking Adventures

Here are some photos of some of our hiking trips that we have taken during the past month. As you can see, we were hiking in the rain sometimes, we saw some bunnies, and we saw some beautiful sunshine through the trees. It is so amazing to me that we live in a large city, yet within 10 minutes you can drive to a trail and be in a tranquil and beautiful green setting. Some of these hikes took place in Federal Way, WA, Soos Creek Trail in Kent, WA, and the Green River Trail in Auburn, WA. All of these trails are within minutes of our house. Enjoy!

Do you have Crab Legs?

On June 10th Zachary's Kindergarten class went to Salt Water State Park. It was a fun little trip for the kids as you can see from the photos they loved catching crabs, and wanted to take them home; however, we explained to them that the crabs are happy living in Puget Sound. The kids then said, "You must have crab legs!"

Discovery Park

There was SUN AND WARM TEMPS IN SEATTLE so this last Saturday we decided to drive to Discovery Park and go on a family hike down to the beach! It was so pretty! We hiked about 3 1/2 miles through a beautiful forest, and saw some wildflowers and you could even see Mt. Rainier in the background. The kids enjoyed finding shells on the beach and then bringing their treasures home. It was a great family outing.

Walking with Little Cindy-Lou-Who!

What an exciting night! Tonight we partcipated in the Relay for LIfe Race. The weather was perfect, we had good company, and great music! It felt so good to walk! Isabella loved walking with me and our pink hair attracted a lot of the teenagers they thought that it was so awesome that I would allow my three year old to have pink hair. I also shared with them that for tonight Isabella had the nick-name of "Little Cindy-Lou" It was fun to have a mother and daughter actvity. Isabella and I walked five miles, which is great for a three year old! By the way I achieved my goal of being able to complete my full work-out routine at LA Fitness since being sick. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I continue to stay healthy.

Tonight along with the Relay for Life Race was Zachary's school carnival. We had a fun time and we all got our hair spray painted so we could go to the race with some bright color in our hair. Zachary's reading teacher did all of our hair, and when Isabella's was finished she said look there is "Little Cindy-Lou" from Dr. Seusss. We also thought that it was funny that Zachary chose the Denver Bronco colors for his hair since his Dad is a huge Dallas Cowboy fan!

Memorial Day Weekend

The above sign is accurate! Eating this you are asking for a heart-attack! However, according to the kiddos the food was "yummy!" It was a great diner in Issaquah!

We took a break from Graduate School. Work, and School and played hard over the weekend. Since the weather was not that great, we stayed local, and did some fun things in the Seattle area. On Friday night, we went on a hike in Federal Way that is where we had our family picture taken that is posted on the cover page of the blog. Saturday, we did some errands and shopping. Sunday we attended church and did some visiting with friends and we also took a brief hike on The Green River Trail. On Monday, we drove out to Snoqualmie Falls about 15 miles east of our home, and then on the way back the kids got thirsty so we stopped by this awesome 1950's themed diner in Issaquah and the kiddos enjoyed Root-beer. The entire diner was car themed so you can guess who is was in heaven, and he wants to have his upcoming Birthday party there. The owner gave Isabella and I large sun-glasses to wear and Kirk took our picture, which is goofy but fun!

The Walk-A-Thon and BBQ at School

ZACHARY GOT SOAKED! HE TRULY LOVED IT!


Yesterday at Zachary's school they had a family BBQ and a walk-a-thon. We all participated and the weather was sunny and then rainy. Of course when it was Kindergarten's turn to go and walk the track we had a down pour. Zachary stood right between the two tents and got s shower which he LOVED!!!! Needless to say, Zachary got to go home early so he could change clothes.

The Creative Bunk Bed

Check out Zachary and Isabella's new invention! They turned our couch into a bunk- bed. Zachary has been begging for months for a bunk-bed and I'm not a big fan of bunk- beds so as a result the kids decided to take things into their own hands and create their own bunk-bed.

Sun! Finally in Seattle/ Kaboata Gardens

Yesterday Jessica and I went to the Kabota gardens with the little ones. I went a liitle photo crazy because it was so pretty. We actually reached 70 degress!
